The Scan Menu



The scan menu will allow you to scan your entire hard drive or single files. Simply click on the start button to start scanning.

Scanner options can be found in the settings menu. You can choose to scan inside of archives or to not scan sub directories. If you right click your mouse on a detected file, an option box like the one shown to your left will open. You can choose to delete the file or to quarantine it. If you quarantine the file, it is copied to a special folder in the Swat It program files area.


Copy To Clipboard
Copies the single file Infection information to Windows Clipboard so that it can be pasted into notepad or e-mail messages.

Browse File Folder
Opens the folder that the infected file(s) resides in.

Delete All Infected Files
Deletes all of the detected files at once.

Quarantine All Infected Files
Moves all infected files to the Swatit infected folder.

Copy All Files To Clipboard
Copies all file Infection information to Windows Clipboard so that it can be pasted into notepad or e-mail messages.

Save All Files To...
Saves a copy of the infected files to a selected file folder.

Clear Files List
Clears the infection list.

Browse Quarantine Folder
Opens the Swatit infected folder for browsing.

The Processes Menu



The process menu lists all files currently running on the computer. If you right click on a file in the process list, the option box shown above will open.

Close Process
Attempts to close the selected process. Closing system tasks may cause the system to become unstable. If there is an error closing a process you may need to close it from your services list in control panel ; Administrator Tools; Services list.

Close Process and Delete File
This option will stop the process and delete the from from the computer. Be sure that the file selected is not a system or needed program file before selecting this option.

File Name Properties
This option will display file properties of the selected file. Version information and dates and times are often times displayed.

Browse File Folder
This option will open the folder that contains the selected file.

Copy Process To Clipboard
This option will copy the process name to the Windows clipboard.

Save Process To File
This option will save the process name to a text file.

Save Processes to c:\proclist.txt
This option will save a complete process list to a text file. This option is good for help sessions. The user can be directed by the 'helper' to e-mail the file or copy and paste the file into a support session.

Copy All Processes to Clipboard
This option will copy a list of all running processes to the Windows clipboard.

Refresh Processes
This option will refresh the process list.

Startup Menu



The process menu lists all files currently running on the computer. If you right click on a file in the process list, the option box shown above will open.

Remove Program From Startup
Each program that starts up on your computer automatically, needs a startup method. Swat It! Pro will list each startup program. This includes Trojans and other hacker programs that normally hide from Windows task lists, the close program list or

Remove From Startup and Delete File
This option will remove the startup file and delete it from the computer. Be sure that the file selected is not a system or needed program file before selecting this option.

Browse File Folder
This option will open the folder that contains the selected file.

Copy File and Details To the Clipboard
This option will copy the file name and startup location to the Windows clipboard.

Copy File to the clipboard
This option will save the file details to the clipboard.

Save file list to...
This option will copy the file list and start methods to a new text file.

Save file list to c:\startuplist.txt

This option will save a complete list of programs and startup methods to a text file. This option is good for help sessions. The user can be directed by the 'helper' to e-mail the file or copy and paste the file into a support session.

Copy All files to Clipboard
This option will save all file details to the clipboard.

Refresh Start Up List
This option will refresh the startup list which will catch any unseen changes.

The Connections Menu



The connections window will list all current connections being made to your computer.
If you right click on a connection, the options shown above will display.

Protocol
Displayed under this heading is the protocol used for the connection or port in either TCP or UDP.

Address
Shows the IP address or hostname (if resolve IPs is selected in options menu and there is a reverse name for the IP address) of the remote computer that a connection is established to.

Local Port
Shows the port on your own machine which is open for communication.

Remote Port
Shows the port on the remote machine that you are connected to or communicating with.

Status
Shows whether it is an established real connection or whether the port is just open or waiting for a connection to time out.

Copy Address to Clipboard
This option copies the selected and highlighted address details to the clipboard.

Copy Connection to Clipboard
This option copies the selected and highlighted connection details to the clipboard.

Copy All Connections to Clipboard
This option copies all of the connection details to the clipboard.

Save All Connections to c:\connlist.txt
This option saves all connection details to a file c:\connlist.txt used for easy transfer during support or help sessions.

Settings Menu



Scan inside archives
This option when selected will cause the Trojan scanner to scan the contents of ZIP archive files.

Include sub-directories when scanning
This option when selected will scan all subdirectories under a selected directory tree.

Add / Remove / Defaults
Add or remove file extensions to be scanned. The Defaults button will set the extensions back to default.

Check for updates on startup
When selected, Swat It! will check for updates each time the program is opened.

Start with Windows
When selected, Swat It! will automatically load each time Windows is started or rebooted.

Hide Listening Connections
This option will allow you to view or hide all listening ports, not just ports with established connections.

Resolve IPs
If the IP address have a reverse host name, this option will reverse the IP into the host name for the IP address.

Download Updates Schedule
This option will allow you so schedule when you would like to check for and download updates.

Automatically Scan Schedule
This option will allow you so schedule when you would like to scan your computer.


Update Menu


Check for updates
This button will check for signature updates when clicked.

Use this proxy server for update checking
If you use a proxy server to connect to the Internet, you can use the proxy when checking or downloading updates.

If you do not know what a proxy server is, leave these settings blank.

Server
This is the name or IP address of your proxy server.

Port
The port of the proxy server

Username
If your proxy server requires a user name, enter it here. If your proxy does not require a user name leave this blank.

Password
If your proxy server requires a password, enter it here. If your proxy does not require a password to connect to it, leave this blank.
